The story of Domingo Advocats (originally known as Bufet Jordi Domingo) starts in 1975 in El Prat de Llobregat. Just like any new business venture, the beginning involves energy, dedication and effort, but lots of enthusiasm as well.
A year later, we open the office at number 40 in the Rambla de Catalunya in Barcelona. We want to be nearer than ever to companies and to accompany them during their strategic decisions, advise them at decisive moments and help them to grow.
We start out mainly dealing in civil law and procedural law, becoming specialists in matters of urban leases and horizontal property, but our activity soon evolves towards the world of business and SMEs as well.
The reputation we earn enables us to actively participate in diverse committees for parliamentary aide, assessment of public institutions on the route to democratization, and to collaborate with several academic institutions, such as the ICAB (Barcelona Professional Association of Lawyers) School of Juridical Practice and the University of Barcelona.
In 1987, we move to our current offices. We want to help an increasing number of companies, institutions and private individuals, and we decide to promote our services at a national and international level more than ever.
In 1989, we are the first ones in Spain to open a law firm in the former USSR (specifically in Moscow), where we also actively participate in the organisation of congresses on international trade and economic development.
During these years, we start helping a large number of multinational companies and SMEs —locally and all over the world— to internationalize themselves or to introduce themselves into the Spanish market. We guarantee them legal assessment as well as comprehensive support to managerial teams and families (housing, vehicles, schools, domestic service, etc.).
Likewise, we participate in big international projects such as the reconversion of Puerto Madero in Buenos Aires (Argentina). In addition, and thanks to our track record and experience, we extend our academic collaboration with the Center for International Legal Studies (Salzburg - Austria).
Between 1991 and 1998, we enjoy a close relationship with the European Union, collaborating in the introduction of the TACIS and PHARE programmes in former USSR countries, as well as providing assessment to SMEs that wished to set up there.
During this time, we also collaborate with the United Nations and are members of the UN Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT), actively participating in projects such as Bolero.
The growth of the property market during these years helps us to establish our presence in the sector; to become one of the points of reference in the matter; and to actively participate in think tanks on legislative reforms such as that of the Urban Rental Act.
In 2009, Domingo Advocats starts a process of generational change in the business, which we complete in 2020 with the launch of our new corporate identity. A change that reflects our desire for constant development, while maintaining traditional values; a high level of demanding professionalism, great commitment and honesty, as well as a friendly, personalised service.
